Each week, he had been getting one step closer to his first win of the 2016 season.
On Saturday night, it came together as Richard Woodland scored his first OSCAAR Midget victory of this season. It marks his second straight top-five at Grand Bend Speedway and third podium in three races.
Woodland started off the night in victory lane by winning the first heat ahead of Wayne McKibbon, James Stanley, Wally Wilson, Adam Cruzzila and Zack Millman.
Ryan Brown won the second heat ahead of Larry Lawson, Brian MacDonald, Shawn Stanley and Russ Couture.
Woodland went two-for-two, winning the third heat ahead of Brown, Lawson, McKibbon and Couture.
Brian MacDonald won the fourth heat ahead of Shawn Stanley, Wilson, Cruzzila, James Stanley and Millman.
The good times kept rolling for Woodland right into the feature as he’d take the lead in the early stages and didn’t look back en route to the victory. Despite the feature being shortened five laps due to weather, fans were entertained as there were battles throughout the whole field.
Ryan Brown finished second for his first career podium finish, followed by Brian MacDonald with his best finish so far this year. Larry Lawson and Wayne McKibbon rounded out the top-five.
Russ Couture finished sixth, followed by Wally Wilson, Shawn Stanley and Adam Cuzilla. Unfortunately, Zack Millman ran into problems once again as he’d fail to finish, while James Stanley was not able to start the feature.
The OSCAAR Pro Midgets were also in attendance, showcasing their new cars for the crowd. Ted Greenwood was fast once again as he won both heats. Unfortunately they were unable to run their feature as a result of rain.
The OSCAAR Midgets will be back in action this weekend at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, while the OSCAAR Pro Midgets have a week off before racing at Flamboro Speedway on June 18.
