Tyler Hawn Dominates OSCAAR Hot Rod ACC Feature; Book Crowned Champion

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Making his return to the Qwick Wick OSCAAR Hot Rods, Tyler Hawn led flag-to-flag en route to winning the Autumn Colours Classic feature at Peterborough Speedway fueled by EPIC Racewear.

Steve Book made history of his own, turning a fourth-place finish into his second straight series championship.

A.J. Emms won the first JRS Auctions heat ahead of Tyler Hawn, Nick Clarke, Gary Hannah, Connor Ellis, Chris Allard, and Jeremy McLean.

Paul Senior was victorious in the second qualifier, followed by Steve Book, Ryan Cowan, Matt Spry, Mat Hopkins, and Bill Clarke.

The third heat started off with contact between Dustin Kellar and Rob Bromley, checking up the field, resulting in Tom Walters and Bill Zardo Sr. getting together. Tom Walters picked up the checkered flag, in front of Zardo Sr., Bromley, Kellar, Sean Walker, and Nathan Detwieler.

Tyler Hawn won the fourth qualifier ahead of Senior, Nick Clarke, Emms, Spry, and Cowan.

Steve Book was victorious in the fifth heat, followed by Zardo, Kellar, Hopkins, and Clarke.

Tom Walters went for the daily double, in front of Bromley, Ellis, Hannah, Walker, Detwieler, and Allard.

Come feature time, the 40-lap affair did not start of smoothly as Paul Senior made contact with Rob Bromley off of turn two on the opening lap, causing Bromley to go for a spin. Several others got caught up in the aftermath including Chris Allard and Ryan Cowan.

Following the brief rain shower, the second attempt to start the feature went smoothly with Tyler Hawn grabbing the advantage in front of Tom Walters, Steve Book, Gary Hannah, A.J. Emms, and Connor Ellis. Bill Zardo Sr. got alongside Emms for fifth on Lap 3, completing the pass a lap later.

Zardo kept moving forward, passing Hannah for fourth on Lap 6. Emms ran sixth in front of Ellis, Nick Clarke, and J.R. Fitzpatrick, as Cowan pulled off the track. The second caution came out on Lap 7 for Matt Spry having a flat tire. Under the yellow flag, Senior made his way down pit road.

Hawn got a good restart with Zardo initially grabbing second in front of Walters, only to be passed by a lap later. Book ran fourth in front of Hannah and Fitzpatrick, as Ellis and Emms battled for seventh. Emms got the spot in front of Ellis and Bromley, as Jeremy McLean made his way down pit road. Dustin Kellar got alongside Clarke for 10th on Lap 12, as Dave Waite ran 12th in front of Senior, Spry, and Bill Clarke.

Fitzpatrick continued his climb forward from the back, passing Hannah for fifth on Lap 17, bringing Emms through with him. Bromley challenged Hannah for eighth, but was unable to complete the pass. Kellar ran 10th in front of Clarke, Waite, and Senior, as Spry made his way down pit road.

Tyler Hawn led the rest of the way en route to winning, with Bill Zardo Sr. passing Tom Walters on the last lap for second. Steve Book and J.R. Fitzpatrick rounded out the top-five, followed by A.J. Emms, Gary Hannah, Rob Bromley, Connor Ellis, and Dustin Kellar. Paul Senior was 11th ahead of Nick Clarke, Dave Waite, Bill Clarke, Sean Walker, Chris Allard, Matt Spry, Jeremy McLean, Ryan Cowan, Mat Hopkins, and Nathan Detwieler.
