With off-and-on rain showers on Sunday, the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC, Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd. OSCAAR Modifieds were unable to get in their Spring Velocity feature presented by Bourque Transmission.
The series did get their season started, though, as they ran two rounds of heats on Saturday as part of the double race day weekend.
Cory Horner won the first heat ahead of Kelly Balson, Jason Keen, Jase Cornell, Norman Newman, Craig Scott, and Wally Wilson.
The second heat saw the caution fly on Lap 2 for Luke Gignac spinning around in turns one and two, followed by a second yellow flag three laps later for Brad Pearsall going around in the same corner. The following restart saw Mike Hearty suffer a mechanical issue, sending him to pit road. A fourth caution came out on Lap 6 as a result of Jason Bowden going around after getting loose, and being tagged by Gignac.
A.J. Emms picked up the checkered flag ahead of Chad Strawn, Pearsall, Chris Milwain, Gignac, Bowden, and Bryan Batty.
Shawn Chenoweth won the third heat ahead of John Harper, Ian Bourque, Gary Elliott, Adam Hagen, and Jim Bowman. DiBello would fail to finish due to receiving the mechanical black flag.
The fourth heat was slowed with a caution for Batty going around off of turn four. Kelly Balson picked up the checkered flag ahead of Gignac, Keen, Bowden, Milwain, Cornell, and Batty.
Chad Strawn won the fifth ahead of Elliott, Harper, Newman, Hagen, Scott, and Wilson.
As mentioned, wet weather on Sunday did not allow for the 30-lap feature to be run. As a result, drivers in attendance will be awarded their heat points, as well as 50 show-up points.
The Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 1.
